Chaa Da Cup - Please!

Chaa Da Cup - Please! is a food blog created for all food lovers

(n.b - mostly chai loving lovers).

The various mixtures of ingredients and recipes complement a hearty Chaa Da Cup! - you'll probably be looking (asking) for one ;)

This is my version of home cooked Punjabi-Kenyan heartiness.

No.40 – Mashed Potatoes

7 different ingredients - 1hour to prepare - serves over 5 people

Ingredients:

250ml - milk.

150gms - butter.

10 - potatoes.

1 large - onion.

1 tsp (flat) - salt.

4 cloves - garlic.

2-3 large geen/red chillies.

Method:

Fill up a large pot, 3/4s way, with water and let it come to a boil. Wash and cut the potatoes into small cubed wedges and place them into the hot water to boil, soften and cook. Once they're soft take them out and wash them off with cold water in a colander, peel of all the skin and grate the boiled potatoes into a large bowl.

Wash, peel and cut 1 large onion into tiny small cubes. Wash, peel and grind 5 cloves of garlic into a paste. Wash and finely slice 1 red and 1 green chilli.

In a pan add a spoon full of butter, once its melted add in the onions, garlic paste, green chillies and 1 flat tsp of salt and mix it all together. Once its all turned golden brown add in the mashed potatoes and 150ml of milk to start off with, using a whisk mix all the ingredients together binding them into a creamy paste. Use more milk if you want your mashed potatoes more creamy/runny.

Finally, serve your mashed potatoes with a heavy hearty spoon full of butter! Don't forget the steaming hot Chaa Da Cup - Please!
