Chaa Da Cup - Please!

The various mixtures of ingredients and recipes complement a hearty Chaa Da Cup! - you'll probably be looking (asking) for one ;)


This is my version of home cooked Punjabi-Kenyan heartiness.


No.45 – Misse Pronte


2 different ingredients - 1hour to prepare - serves over 5 people


Ingredients:

1 bowl - Left over cooked daal -lentils.


2 bowls - plain white flour.


1 - white/red onion.


250ml - water.


Method:

Preparing the Daal/Lentils:

Use left over daal for the purpose of making this pronta, any daal will work fine.


Preparing the dough:

In a large bowl add 2 bowls of plain white flour, 1 bowl of left over daal and water as you need to knead all the ingredients into a firm and soft dough.


Once the dough is ready place it aside and get your equipment to make the pronta ready. Once ready, take palm sized amounts of dough and roll them out to make a small - medium sized balls. Using a rolling pin, roll out the balls into big round pronte.

Making sure your tava/griddle is hot, once you've rolled out your pronta place it on the tava/griddle and let the pronta cook on both sides. When flipping your pronta over the second time, after both sides are lightly cooked, add 1 tablespoon of ghee on each side and allow each side to cook well, turning both sides brown and crispy.


Once they are crispy on both sides, take the pronta off the tava/griddle and put them in a muslin cloth ready to serve. Finally, take some out as you need, to avoid them from getting cold, and serve them with a hot steaming Chaa da Cup - Please!
